My name is Annik, and I’m a Norwegian language teacher offering personalised online lessons for adults around the world. I was born and raised in Oslo, Norway, and have lived Australia for the past eight years. Living between two countries has given me a particular appreciation for language, not just as something we study, but as a way of connecting with people, places and cultures.

My background is in education, with a Master’s degree in Inclusive and Special Education, and I’ve worked as an educator for many years and have several years of experience teaching Norwegian to learners of different ages, backgrounds and ability levels. I believe learning a language works best when it’s connected to the things that matter to you, your goals, interests and everyday life.

A different way to learn Norwegian

I teach Bokmål written Norwegian and speak with an Oslo/Østlandsk accent. My students learn Norwegian for all sorts of reasons: moving to Norway, communicating with Norwegian family and friends, work, travel, personal interests, and even learning to perform music in Norwegian.

Whatever brings you to the language, I believe your lessons should reflect it.

My background in inclusive and special education strongly influences the way I teach. Rather than expecting every student to learn in the same way, I adapt lessons to your level, goals and preferred ways of learning. We can work with a structured learning plan while still having the flexibility to spend more time on the things that are most useful or interesting to you.

I also believe learning works best as a collaboration. I encourage you to have as much input into the direction and structure of your lessons as you want, so that the Norwegian you’re learning feels relevant to the life you actually want to use it in.
